Uncommon Common Art 2012
Uncommon Common Art is a community, environmental art project produced by the Alliance of Kings Artist (AKA). This project is designed to highlight two of Kings County’s greatest assets – the abundance of creative people who live here and the beautiful environment that is the Minas Basin.

The idea for this project came from the joy of finding unexpected creations while exploring nature. Involvement is not limited to professional artists or to just visual art.

Uncommon Common Art Installation Criteria
• Everyone is encouraged to make a piece of Uncommon Common Art but only installations that have been approved by the project committee will be included on the map.
• Art installations must relate to the environment.
• Installations should be site specific or designed to fit within their location.
• To be included on the current map, installations must be made specifically for Uncommon Common Art between March and June. Art pieces installed on public property should be removed in late October of the same year.
• All installations are to be located in Kings County.
• Installations need to be accessible to the public. If the installation is on private property the property owner needs to give consent to the artist.
• It is encouraged that artists be current AKA members.
• Installation should cost the artist no more than $100 for supplies. This does not include found objects or things that you might have lying around.

Uncommon Common Art Project  2011 is an art exhibit in nature or an art scavenger hunt or art geocaching or a community/environmental art project or an eye spy art project, or hiking meets art or all of the above.

This project has been described in a number of ways meaning something different to each person yet involving and intriguing all. The UCA highlights two of the biggest assets in King’s County - the stunning natural environment that is the Minas Basin Valley and the abundance of creative people who live here.

Uncommon Common Art is put together by the Alliance of Kings Artists.  It was conceptualized and is directed by Terry Drahos and photographed by Ernest Cadegan.
